In this article, we'll review how to utilize TAGS within your contacts database.
The TAGS icon works just like tags within the guest list of individual events. You can apply tags to any contact. The tag icon is best for internal organization and labeling and managing contacts visually.
PLEASE NOTE: When you apply a tag to a contact in the CONTACTS database, it does not carry over to specific events. Any tag that you apply in here only functions within this database, at the contacts level. The tag tool within contacts is most useful for searching for groups and exporting groups.
When you click the tag icon, a dropdown menu with your existing tags will appear.
Within this dropdown menu, you also have the option to create a new tag, by clicking ADD NEW...
If you click ADD NEW... the ADD NEW MASTER TAG pop up window will appear. Here, you can name the tag, and assign a maximum number of people who are allowed to have this tag. Once you've entered the specifications for your tag, click SAVE MASTER TAG.
To assign contacts to a tag, first check the box next to their name, then click the tag icon, then click the name of the tag you want them to be assigned to.
When you've assigned a tag to a contact, the tag icon will appear by their name. If you hover over that icon, it will display what tags that contact is associated with.
A contact can be assigned to multiple tags. For example, Sofia Skawski (see below) is assigned to three different tags.
If you want to remove a tag from a contact, check the box next to their name, click the TAG icon, then click the tags that you'd like to remove. Tags that they are currently associated with are denoted by the + symbol.
If you want to view all of your contacts who belong to a certain tag, you can click VIEW BY TAG then click which tag you want to filter by. The number in brackets [x] indicates how many individuals in your contact database are associated with that tag. If you want to filter your results by multiple tags, click the next tag once the first filtered page has loaded.
To remove all of the filtered views by tag, click CLEAR TAGS... in the VIEW BY TAG drop down menu. Alternatively, you can click ALL CONTACTS on the left side of the panel.
