In this article, we'll review how to create a linked or related event.
What do these terms mean?
When you LINK an event in SeatRobot, it means you want those events to be associated for some reason. They are completely different events, but a guest's interest in one event indicates that they might be interested in the other event.
In a scenario such as this, there are two ways to create your linked and/or related events.
The first way would be to create both events separately, then link them.
In my case, I've created two events. Both events are documentary short film screenings. They are completely separate events being managed my different teams within my organization. However, I think it's very likely that someone attending the first screening would be interested in attending the second. Therefore, I want to increase visibility for both events by featuring them on each other's page.
To do this, head to your DASHBOARD and check the box next to both of your events.
Then, scroll up to the top of your dashboard and click the LINK icon.
After clicking the LINK icon, the events will have a paperclip icon + a number to indicate that they are linked.
You can visit the event web pages for these events by clicking the corresponding blue globe icon.
When you visit the link of one of these events, the other event will show up at the bottom of the page under RELATED EVENTS.
Another way to link an event is to make RELATED copies. This method is best if you're creating two separate events that are identical other than a few key details.
For example, I am creating two pilates classes. They are exactly the same, other than date and teacher. I know that people who attend one class may be interested in attending the other.
To start, I'll create the first class - adding an event web page image, an event description, and other key details. Here's the webpage for the class I made:
To create the related copy, I'll head back to my dashboard and click the COPY icon for my event.
The COPY pop up window will appear. When you click RELATED, the window will expand with options.
If you select CREATE MULTIPLE SIMPLE COPIES, it will create exact copies, including the date / time and name of the event.
If you select CREATE COPIES BY SCHEDULE, you can make copies that follow a calendar pattern.
In my case, the only aspects of the class that is changing is the teacher and the date. Therefore, I'm going to select CREATE SINGLE COPY WITH DATE, then type in my preferred date and title that includes the name of the other teacher. Once finished, press SAVE.
After pressing SAVE, you'll land back on your dashboard. You'll notice that your initial event and the RELATED copy that you made are now denoted by a paperclip icon + corresponding number. This means they are now LINKED.
Next, you should check the box to make them live on your aggregate events website (on the right).
If we visit our aggregate events website, we can visit both event registration pages, and see that the LINKED event is profiled at the bottom of each webpage, under RELATED events.
If you ever want to unlink an event, simply check the boxes next to the linked events, then press the UNLINK icon in the top right hand corner.
